Description

This image took 5 months to render due to a high amount of bullshit...mem problems (fixed), auto restarts because of Microsoft updates installing, thunder storms and dumbass 20 second power outages. Now I have all auto updates off and a UPS capable of running servers for several hours. Mine should run fine now because I'm barely running at 1 fifth the battery capacity. In this image I wanted to portray a really shallow water pool as if in a desert creekbed. I used 2 layers of clouds. One pretty low and dark and the other way up there. I used a rock distribution using both a rock model and a displacement map for what I thought could look decent. This image iS test #1 of TG-2 capabilities. I tried to render it at anti-alias level 11 at first but 3/4 of the way thru it had memory problems. Tried 8...nope, 5, 3, 2, 1. This iS level 1 and quite frankly I see no real difference. Render time=183:36:49 @ 2000x1500 on a intel core i3 530 @ 2.93GHz 2.93GHz using Windows 7 x64.

This is a great moody image, that suttle twisted light is pleasantly frighting, I would love to dig into TG however the render times are to much, you might want to check the forum or start a tread inregards to more render settings, I'm sure like other apps that may help limit time (like the ones you sorted out) But great result here !!!

Very well done! I just run a two-core, 3 GB, 2.2 GHZ PC, and I've never been able to see where anti-alias settings higher than 5 buy me anything. Probably more a function of the video card than anything else.
