Description

New Orleans class heavy cruiser modelled in Shade 8, textured as the USS Vincennes and rendered in Bryce 6. Flare retouched and wake added in Painter 8. Thanks for viewing. Some info. USS Vincennes was one of four Allied cruisers sunk with great loss of life during an audacious Japanese night-time raid by a small cruiser force against the Guadalcanal landing area in 8/9th August 1942. Achieving total surprise, the Japanese squadron picked out its targets using flares and searchlights before retiring into the darkness. Incredibly, while the attacking cruisers sliced through the picket of Allied cruisers and destroyers like an express train, the troop transports were untouched. The USS Vincennes, and USS Quincy sank that night, the Astoria sank the following day and the crippled HMAS Canberra had to be abandoned- it was sunk by Allied torpedoes and gunfire that morning before the depleted Allied fleet withdrew temporarily from the area.

Good job on the model. It's caught with its guns trained fore and aft. Not good.
