Description
Although Mapledurham is a tiny village, this church, and the mill opposite it, are both quite well known having been used extensively in the 1976 film, The Eagle Has Landed, starring Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland and Robert Duvall.
This photo was taken on the South side of the church so was not seen as much in the film. (Well, I like to be different)
For the scenes where the church was shot at and blown up with grenades, an exact duplicate of the building was constructed in the car park so as not to damage the real thing. :-)
