Description
In the picture of today another friend that lent itself to a very close photo. At times he got to his flight to return to the same point by changing the pose. At times she raised her face towards me with a movement of the mouth (I thought I could send kisses, always better to be optimistic). I made a series of photos, even a few cm, almost touching her.
The Dragonfly depressed Linnaeus, 1758, is an insect of the family Libellulidae (Odonata: Anisoptera). One of the most common dragonflies in Europe.
The adult dragonfly is a large body along with more than 4 cm and a wingspan of 7-8 cm and characterized by vivid plumage pigmentation of the abdomen.
The head is mobile, equipped with large compound eyes, almost joined at the summit, three ocelli and antennae short and thin. The mouthparts are chewing type.
The thorax is robust, dark reddish-brown in male, yellowish-brown in females. The pronotum is large and crossed by a median longitudinal groove, but are particularly developed tergites and pleura of the second and third segment. The legs are well developed but not very functional and the front ones are raptatorio type, suitable for grasping the prey in flight. The wings are well developed, transparent and hyaline, with an extensive pigmentation, reddish brown, the proximal zone, triangular in hind wings. As in all Odonata, the wings of L. depressed have a rich veins. As in all Anisoptera, the hind wings have a greater development than the front, back rowers in the region and the broader anal area, and rest are kept open and horizontal. The costal margin is slightly wedged at the confluence of subcosta subapicale area and the pterostigma is evident, in contrast to the transparency of hyaline membrane.
The abdomen is long and square, tapered rear, light blue in the back in the male honey-yellow in the female with a median longitudinal line that goes back to its full length in both sexes. The ovipositor of females is relatively short.

Amazing, as if it is hanging in there for life or as if this dragon fly is in love with this small branch, they way it is holding it, the wings as if they want to hold the branch too, great capture indeed!!!

Yes, he is quite beautiful.I wonder what he sees to eat on that twig though. Beautiful colors and lighting. A wonderful portrait.
