Description

I am not sure what type of bee this is. I should go to bugguide.net, but I haven't had the time. We just got the computer back up and running. We had some kind of malware, that even after being detected and deleted, when we re-booted the computer it put it in a boot-loop error. The hard drive had to be wiped clean, and everything re-loaded, the hard drive partitioned and all that stuff that my husband knows ;) The good news is, everything seems to be running well and I only lost a few bookmarks. I am still trying to master my ef 100mm macro lens. This shot isn't as sharp as I would have liked, but I am getting there. I am still trying to get "that" shot. Here is the one I took last summer, "Blue Bee Baggage", with my efs 18-55mm lens. I had a small reminder today, to just enjoy the moments life has to offer. I was sitting in the backyard with a book, my feet up and my cat was just laying there enjoying whatever it is that cats enjoy about being outside (cuz he is a house cat) when I heard a little chirping sound. I looked up and saw a Hummingbird enjoying my Shrimp Plant. Then he flitted over to the cosmos, tried a few zinnias then flew over my cat who leaped in the air trying to get the hummingbird... lol. The hummingbird stopped, hovered over my cat, they stared at each other for quite a while. It was hilarious. It was like the bird was telling the cat "Ha, who do you think you are? I am a hummingbird, you can't catch me!" I shall remember that sight for a while :) My previous upload, "Daylilies Dream". Thanks for looking :) Have a great day! Hugs, ~Melinda~

This is a great shot! I like the sense of color in it and the light! You're doing quite good in getting the hang of your new lens. I really like the details: I love a good insect shot, especially when the compound eyes reveal those weirdly prismatic details, AND you get the simple "motion sensor" eyes too! This is a gorgeous insect as well; I don't see many green beauties like this, at least not in Chicago. We have beetles and flies in this shade of metallic insect green, but not much else. I loved your little story too, and yeah: life is to be enjoyed, especially if it has cats and hummingbirds in it. This is great stuff and I'm glad to start catching up on your gallery again.

Interesting bee! and the three black dots on his head looks like the eyes you find on a spider. Great image!

Cool shot. I love these bees. I haven't seen many this year. I believe its a Green Sweat bee. They have the coolest eyes! Keep up the good work.

These little bees are my favorite kind. Somewhere back in my gallery you may find a collage of them. Excellent result

Why do hummingbirds hum? Because they can't carry a tune. Pretty good macro shot of the bee, busy doing what bees are genetically programmed to do, Melinda! And, do you have automatic focus on your camera?
