I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

I like the composition of this, an interestingly full of nothing landscape. I wanted to say the pic is grainy but thought perhaps that might have been too subtle!! Lol.

Oh I can really dig the POV, DOF, and especially the myriad of textures in this excellent composition, Carin! Flip-flops not allowed on this surface.

OOOH! My favorite desert! OK, I haven't been there yet, but it's still my favorite desert. I can even forgive it for not having any woodlice, but it might have something interesting and with lots of legs, I just hope it isn't poisonous too. This is quite nice. I love the vastness; it just goes on, and on, and on (and on some more.) And yeah, I agree that it's probably not too friendly to flip-flops, but you never know. I love the foreground rock and the mountains in the background; they come together perfectly, especially with the darkness of the rock and the increasing paleness of the gritty, pebbly sand. It does look a bit Mars-like too, only warmer. Needless to say, I love this shot, and yeah...I really wanna see that desert, and smell it too...there's always something about the smell of a place that makes it immediate and somehow real. Thank you for the birthday dedication! This is quite a marvelous one, and most-definitely a favorite!

Been falling a bit behind on my comments again. This is a grand scene. My desert experiences are all from Southern California, Nevada and Arizona. The amazing thing to me is how much life there really is in what looks like a vast wasteland to others. I'll bet your scene is teaming with life...particularly at night. I like the way you've accented the open spaces. Mighty fine photo Carin:) I am sure this was right up Chip's alley...so much different from Chicago!
