BIOI am a Florida native, I grew up in a Mayo, Florida on a tobacco, chicken and watermelon farm. I am 32 and currently enrolled at the University of South Florida, studying to become an Industrial Engineer. My great-great grandfather was one of the first photographers in Florida. I use a Canon 40D and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30. I enjoy nature photography and macro photography.

Great capture! Seems to be a little past it's prime, but more should come. :) Not mine! Two weeks of no sunshine and raining every day did them in. :( All I have is pictures to remember them by.

Marvelous work, and although it may be flawed this is such a superb macro of it.

Great shot Wendy. It instantly made me think of a friend of mine who bought a VW beetle last year. It came with a vase on the dash with one pastic gerb in it! It's still there only now it is caked in dust!!!!

Looking at this shot and comparing it to the title, I can see the connection...in a sort of Japanese-pottery sort of way. Ha! How's that for the opening line to a comment? Anyway, I love this shot and the work you've done on it! On a level it vaguely recalls Lomography (photography with a cheap, wonky-on-purpose Lomo camera) but it lacks the...well...wonkiness of lomography; instead it's elegant and quite emotionally-stirring--like Japanese pottery: something incredibly beautiful with a single "flaw" intentionally worked into it, and an homage to the randomness of nature. Okay...my mind goes off in odd directions at times, but in this case, I rather like the associations this triggers. For me, that's a sign of artistic success on your part...and well...this image itself IS a sign of artistic success. Great work.
