Description
Captured 7/31/10, at an American Civil War Reenactment held at the beautiful and vast El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Much better viewed full size.
If you were wondering where I was yesterday, this is why.
I went with my brother, who is also history and military minded; was a very exciting and informative experience while interfacing with both sides of the War between the States, and probably the best and most thorough event I've attended for many a moon. Even President Abraham Lincoln was there.
I took tons/tonnes (562) of photos as a result (oh my aching back), so this is just a preview because I still have to go through them all, editing, postworking, sorting, and trashing if necessary. Hence, it will be a while before I begin posting them in earnest.
TTFN, thankx for stopping by, and for any and all complimentary comments and faves.

What a great capture! Excellent colour and compo! I spent a LOT of time in El Dorado Park as a teen; we lived not far from there. I remember a very dirty duck pond and a lot of trees...I don't imagine it's changed much, except the trees are probably a lot taller and there are different ducks.

Despite MrsRatbag's teenage memory of El Dorado Park, it is a large, beautiful and well maintained nature spot, far superior to many others in the Southern California area.

Er, you're posting all 562 photos? I think R-osity will have to create a ner category just for you! :) As the battles wear on, you absolutely must post a few battle maps so we don't get lost in the action. This photo is great - no need to apologize. "Now, where's the ignition key hole on this thing!" Looking foreward to more photos! :)

Excellent image. That's my great grandfather out front...corporal at the end of the war in the 13th New York Cavalry. He was promoted to Sgt at one point in time but after leaving the payroll under a rock during a swim for he and his men in a river...the Army reduced him back to corporal:)
