Description
Argiope aurantia
This really nice female Argiope aurantia (Commonly known as the Black and Yellow Garden Spider) has currently taken residence in our backyard garden near our tomato plants. I have seen these off and on over the years around our house, but never one this big (I estimate her to be about 3 to 3 1/2 inches from front leg to back leg when sitting on the web.
I first spotted her from our kitchen window which is on the 2nd floor of my house overlooking the garden.. she was that big that she was easily spotted, so I grabbed my camera and took some shots of her...

WOOOOOOOOOOOW! Nice capture of a BIG BEAUTIFUL black & yellow! I haven't seen one of those in YEARS! I remember, as a kid throwing some poor hapless insects into the web just so I could watch them wrap up their dinner. Nice shot. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot of this one. I have several currently living in my backyard, and it is not easy getting a good shot.
