Description
Long before the invention of wind surfing, jet skis and bikinis, people would dress up in their finest clothes and take leisurely walks along the seaside. This old picnic hut is all that remains from that forgotten era, a time immortalized in Charles Condor's famous 1888 painting entitled "Holiday at Mentone". The hut stands just off to the left of this painted scene. HERE!
The sea baths in the painting were lost in a huge fire when I was a small child. I can still remember it vividly!

The old Sutro Baths in San Francisco also burned. I never saw them, but it's always fascinated me. Nice shot of an a wonderful old place. Can you imagine being at the beach in all the clothes they used to wear??? lol
