Description
Here you just see the columes of a old plantion home that is on River Road. My son lives close to the road and I heard about it so we took off down the road and just went 10 miles down the road and we had saw this but did not stop but we did stop on the way back. Got a few shots of things down this road. It do go down Between Baton Rouge and New Orlears so if you like to take the old roads and not the interstates this is the road to take. I heard about it but did not drive down it at all. I now know how to get to the road and will drive to New Orleans. It easy to get to it. just get off the exit by the bridge that cross the Mississi River and go to the casico there and the road by the level is the road to take south to New Orleans.
I heard there was a lot of old plantion homes on the way but my son say just by New Orleans he saw just a few. Mostly country farms and cows. I still going to go down the road. Maybe the plantions homes is to the north of Baton Rouge??? I look into that

the place was on prive propety so i could not walk to it and walk around. maybe next time I go ask premit to do so

Someone from my family in Georgia owns the home where one of the outside balcony scenes were filmed for Gone With the Wind I was there years ago but at the time I did not have a camera with me. :( I need to get back out there and see it again and take lots of photos.. Great to see this.

This must be the remains of Tara, the plantation that was featured in the novel and movie, Gone With The Wind. So, where are Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler? Ooops, sorry, that was around Atlanta, Georgia. Anyway, cool shot of the grass, trees, and what's left of the old edifice, Jock.

What a moody shot! Those columns resemble ancient ruins a bit older than they actually are! How fascinating. I must admit that I'm no fan of Gone With The Wind...but I think there's a particular "righness" in your title's reference to that title...and well...some things are best left...well...gone...even though historical significance might remain. This is a great reminder of that and a glimpse into parts of US-American history that are all-too-easily forgotten. That, and it's a great shot...very moody and mysterious! In another context, those could be ancient pillars to a temple in some far-away country on the other side of the planet! Great work! Nicely moody!

Interesting place, and bit of history background! I really like the capture, it almost looks eerie in a sense, and certainly peaks the imagination! It's always fascinating to see such grounds, especially when they've been abandoned after such historical events... Lovely POV and a superb, curious find!
