Description
"this is the last heist" thought Aliena Nightshade as she worked the locks of the chests. She had gone through too much for her employer, a dubious wizard who had promised to pay her handsomely for the jewel he sought in the ruins castle of Fort Bweir. The wizard had never mention the hosts of goblyns she had to avoid getting to the lower levels, not to mention the other creatures that had now inhabit this once mighty fortress. Twice she had almost payed with it with her life, but had managed to cheat death once more. She promised herself that she would rest for a bit, maybe join a group of adventurers seeking a well to do rogue, but first she would make the wizard pay double the fee. As Aliena worked the last tumble into play, she heard a click and smiled. The first chest had been a breeze that even an apprentice rogue could open, but the second had a more challenge set of locks but no match for her skills. Surely the gem must be in here she prayed in elvish, opening the chest lid. An orange like gem pulsed as it sat on top of the gold coins among the other artifacts that were stored in the chest. This was the prize she had been searching for almost a fortnight. It was so beautiful to behold as its colors of a fire orange pulsed, the treasure would have to wait to move another time since this part of the fortress was secure behind hidden walls and passages. The goblyns would never find the treasure she assured herself. As Aliena reached for the gem, she thought funny that there werent any traps on the chests. Aliena swore in elvish as she felt a sudden prick. Two small holes on the top of her left hand. Panic gripped her as she began to think of an nullifying to use on the wound, but it was too late. Her body began to feel ridge like cement as the fast acting poison began to do its damage. Aliena slump to the floor in view of the gem she was sent for. Her last thoughts as her eyes began to dim were "i should of made the wizard pay up front."
