Description

"Not in the sky Where it was seen... So long in eminence of light serene,-" The Lost Pleiad, William Gilmore Simms 1806-1870 Amelia Earhart vanished on July 2nd 1937 on the homeward leg of her world flight attempt. Most frustrating of all, she did not vanish unreported, her last hours were monitored by a coast guard cutter sent to assist her radio approach to Howland Island in the West Pacific. The crew of the cutter were convinced she had to be just about on top of them- so strong were her transmissions. But Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan obviously could not hear the cutter's attempts to talk her down. Soon it was clear the plane must have run out of fuel and ditched, despite an exhaustive search no trace of the Lockheed 10E "Electra" and its crew was ever found. Electra is one of the stars in the Pleiades constellation. And according to one tradition it is Electra who is the sister no longer visible to observers, the "Lost Pleiad." Lockheed 10E modelled in Shade 8 and rendered in Poser 6. Background created in Bryce 7. Thanks for viewing.
