Description

...these two British airplanes are vintage 1940 but they were photographed last Saturday, August 7, 2010 flying at Paine Field, Washington. The day was gray and drizzly...not much color to work with...similar to Battle of Britain weather in July and August 1940. My postworked photo here is grainy enough to take on a seventy year old look...don't you agree? LOL ...Hope you aren't worn out by all the talk of prop blur but this is my entry to the challenge I posted on July 25th (Click Here for a refresher). ...That's a Supermarine Spitfire on the left and a Hawker Hurricane on the right. Most of my shots were miserable failures last Saturday but this one at least shows reasonably in-focus airplanes with plenty of prop blur. Thanks to all of you who have posted "prop blur" photos since the 25th of July. I hope I am not missing anyone...I've seen photos from auntietk (Tara), debbielove (Rob), and several from cfulton (Clive)...have I missed your entry? The challenge still stands...:) Bill:) "Lilies Galore" thumb_2094631.jpg

Very interesting perspective, showing the differences in shape not usually seen in photographs. Very well done. Looking foreward to more from this meet. :)

I know it's a "chance" item, but the next picture submitted was entitled "Seagulls on the hunt" and the birds are almost in the same position (though one of the birds is "breakin' right" for an attack). Wonderful postwork on this one, I thought it was vintage when I first saw it in the queue.

Great work on the ageing and the blur, Bill! The trees give a great reference to the low fly-by. Clive

A couple of these old planes show up here from time time; they have such a distinctive sound. Of course, I NEVER have my camera at the time--figures!! Great shot!!
