Description

Here we see the backside of the gambling boat shot from the bottom of the old boat ramp with a glass beach between the water edge and the concrete. Find out by coolcatcom that The water level of the Mississippi in Baton Rouge can vary as much as 40 feet each year. Maybe that why they use glass down on the beach so it will not be washed away? Just thinking that all. I did not even go on the gambling boat at all. I been in gambling places but never gamble much at all. All I did was sit down on a beach under some shade there. Then I took my shot of the USS Kidd. Thought I show you some of the gambling boat. Not much to it. Look like the paddle wheels is too small for this big boat. I could be wrong for I know nothing about boats. on a good not my brother put my old monitor to this lap top and show my how to open my photos on to the old monitor. Now I need a monitor calibrator to see if it is good you know the colors and contrasts. I need to do one on the lap top too. Anyone know a good free ware calibrator. I looked at some of my photos on the old screen and the laptop and I do see a big difference in the colors and contrasts. maybe I can get better photos to you to look at. I think many was wrong in contrast but it hard to tell from just a laptop; You move it around up or down just a little and it change ever thing . tell me if it too light or dark? or the colors is wrong Oh the boat as far as i know never leave dock.

Great capture! Don't look much like an old riverbaot, but i guess it's a sign of the times. The color looks pretty good.

The old rules in some states required any casino to float in federal waterways. So they built them on barges. About your pic: judging by the branches on the right side, I'd say your color values are pretty close. The main part, with casino and water, probably was just a plain bright scene. If it was mine, I'd straighten the tilt of the "smokestacks" to vertical, darken the image a little, and boost contrast.

Really fine shot. I still think their security were jerks to tell you to get off thier property when gettin a shot of the USS Kidd. A very nice capture. Well done.

Thanks for the mention above Jocko. The capture looks fine at my end. This looks like a big boat. I believe that you have photo shop use it to adjust if you want. Just use the curve setting. (In PS.....Image, Adjustment, Curve) This is to adjust each image not calibrate your monitor. Look in control panel and see if you have "Adobe Gamma" use it to calibrate. You probably know all this anyway just trying to help. George

Very well captured my Friend! This seems like an enticing ride on the waters...... seems most comfortable and sturdy build! great piece of history as well.... some interesting info there for us! I never knew one of these existed, particularly designated to the cause! Great subject and composition!

I like drace68's suggestions for this. I know grey days reflect a lot of light so that the further away something is, the hazier things get. Still, this is pretty accurate. I never saw the gambling boats when I was down that way, but I intend to fix that on my next trip. :-)
