This made me think of the song "I'm Gonna be an Engineer" by Peggy Seeger. Probably because in the Pete Seeger version (the only one I've heard) he ends it with the words "Solidarity forever! I'll fight them as an engineer!". It also made me think of Richard Thompson's song "Pharoah". "Far below we shoulder the wheel. We're all working for the Pharoah." Excellent composition. The starkness of the black background, clean lines, and hard working poses, is very compelling. I like the combination of that with the faces showing through in the center. Powerful image!

wow, another of your amazing historical montages, but this one really spans the gamut...you've got everything from Ancient Egypt to images from the turn of the last century (and labor movement images, images that would've been sanctioned by the early unions, the wobblies, and on and on), and a photo-montage that has quite a bit of humanity in it & an embrace of a kind of love. You even have an old medieval image (from a fiefdom of some kind) and the usual images of people carrying the 'rich', and the tonal qualities of prints more than paintings, evoking the poster-art that filled the labor movements of the last century along with the art of the communist/socialist revolutions. Sometimes your images evoke the great silent films of Russia in the 20s, and for some reason I feel that here too. There's some tongue-in-cheek here maybe, and some sense of the despair of labor and its oppressions, but I also feel a strain of love here, or embrace, or compassion for the people who are portrayed. You have a fine sense of collage/montage, and this is a fine piece, Mandy. Hard to come back while recovering, and only pick one piece, but while I've seen everything, I can only do one now; and this is as representative of your masterly sensibilities as many others. Fine work once more.
