I wander aimlessly through the forest alone on my path Stopping to kick at the roots, pick up a few pebbles to toss in the small puddles formed by the early morning rain I'm in no hurry to get where I'm going No one is waiting for me there Time is not an issue, and therefore, I take the time to notice the little things How the ferns like to make themselves noticed along the path, by poking their branches out just enough so that it is impossible not to see them feel them as they reach out to tickle your legs as you pass They are bold, beautiful and they want to be seen They have no fear that you might not like them..... They are willing to take the risk of someone coming along and trampling them with big, spikey combat boots The squirrel in the tree who thinks if he stands still just right, I don't see him Invisible to the eye Don't move Don't twitch Stay still He will stand like that for hours if I were cruel enough to park myself under his humble little home So afraid that Im out to eat him, devour him and destroy his life, he will just stay there, frozen in time, waiting for me to pass on by But he's missing out on so much..... If he'd just make a run for it, take a chance and be bold like the ferns, well, he would see that it's true, sometimes there are people who just want to trample on you, and destroy pieces of you.... but most walk along the path of life encounter you, and stop to enjoy your beauty ~*~*~*~*~ taken last spring on MT Baker, WA not real focused but you get the picture ;)
