In case you think there is a logic error here, remember that this series is set in the 1980s. There was a time and a place where cigarettes were out in the open in stores. And no security cameras. And no bars on the windows. And you could pump your gas first, and pay for it second.

Hmmm, so far, typical stuff for two unchaperoned juveniles - this is what you get. Hanging together this long without either mother? Yeah, no good often does come of it. Very well illustrated.
