Description

The photography forum challenge for August is ".......and Action." I haven't yet braved the extreme heat to get new shots, but since the month is only half over, I still have time to do so. That's the plan anyway, as I sit in my air conditioning. If I wimp out, I still have more shots in the file where this one came from. It's from a cool day in early April. My son was throwing bread to the birds as we crossed Galveston Bay on the ferry. I upload this with an invitation to all the excellent photographers here to visit the challenge, see the great shots already there, and add some. Thanks for viewing, and for previous visits, comments and favs! This one does benefit from a zoom.

Rare capture! Flocks can move real fast, so this is a nice quick reaction on your part! Good work!

No I don't! lol! We've been reaching toward 100F (38C) for highs for the last 3 weeks or so with no end in sight. Though it's better than last year when on August 2nd we broke our old record for most consecutive days where we reached 100 at 36 days. I think we ended up with a total of 60+ days (not consecutive) where we reached 100 during that summer.

A magnificent capture of the gulls in flight, feuding over whatever this species normally feuds over, which is mostly food, Lucinda. By the title, I thought at first that you were referring to today's youngsters, from toddlers to teenagers, and probably beyond. As for your heat, we're experiencing a cooler than normal summer so far here in usually sunny Southern California. Climate change, my dear.

A truly spectacular shot! I love the title too. I laughed just reading the title from the thumb. That's a lot of sharing to do. I love that they all have a different flying style. Excellent.

Waited until last to view your latest upload Lucinda as that way I can go to bed with a smile :) Have to say your pretty smart to stay in and fall back on some shots on file as like you I'm not a fan of baking in the sun. Speaking of this photo, it really is one of those that is really intense and filled with action. The title says it all and adds the bit of humor to it that makes it complete. Great job

Very skillful, dynamic work! First rate. I suppose it would be too much to ask for them to sit quietly in a row and wait for their lunch.
