Description
Malbess lead Obett inside the briefing room. Dokka made some hand signs to the camera. The table beeped twice.
Obett, the Altani, said,"I hope that Malbess has been keeping you up to date? You must be the Captain?"
Dokka nodded. "Our ship Psychiatrist said you don't seem insane. We just wondered if you might have any reasons WHY some individuals might have for lying about you?"
Obett shrugged,"Don't know. I'd like to know myself. I'm precognitive, but it's pretty weak. I dream of people who are about to either die or disappear forever. I was on the terminal planet Forensis when a part broke on my starship. I was waiting for a part when I caught the news from here. I was heading in the opposite direction, until I saw the bottle glass-green Cyclops girl. I dreamed her. I had to warn her and try to find out what would happen to her."
Dokka asked,"Where were you when you saw the news?"
Obett shrugged. "I was in a waiting room filled with people, waiting for a part. I did exclaim that 'I dreamed her' and asked people if any one knew any more details. I knew that the Erhlutians might be watching me, and I assumed they couldn't be everywhere. More fool me."
Dokka looked with narrow eyes at Obett and asked,"Do the Erlutians have a CULTURAL BIAS against mental problems, so they assume if THEY called someone insane that everyone else would dismiss them out of hand?"
Obett laughed. "That sounded like a description out of a game I used to play when I was younger. Yes, exactly!"
Dokka raised an eyebrow,"Was it 'Stellar Empires'? Written by an Altha-Krommium made machine-life protected by the Naga or Sururin?"
Obett looked shocked. "Yes! The Oracle wrote it two hundred years ago. It drove the Erhlutians mad! They almost went to war over that machine-life. It changed the name of their species, but the description was spot on."
Dokka asked, "Were they the 'Alu' in the game?"
Obett slapped his hands and exclaimed,"EXACTLY! There was an INSANELY difficult scenario that got me to blow up the human capitol world in it..."
Dokka exclaimed,"YEAH! They recruit you to carry a huge package to 'Make Amends' to the human capitol..."
Rose finished,"... That actually was a HUGE anti-matter bomb that they could remote detonate!"
Obett asked,"You figured out to complete the scenario without dying?"
Dokka asked Rose,"How in hell did you know about it?"
Rose muttered,"Slicy kept going on about it. SHE was the one who figured it out."
Dokka blinked. "WAIT A MINUTE. SHE was my security officer on my virtual starship? The one who wanted to shoot everything up? I already know about Narchi's playing in it, but who else on this ship played on the flying city network in Stellar Empires?"
Malbess looked uncomfortable and raised a hand,"I was captain of the 'Persuasion'."
Dokka looked shocked and exclaimed,"YOU? You were the Pirate Queen of the Persieds? Good God! This is more shocking than finding out things about Aldus and his involvements in what we found out! I don't even know my own crew any more!"
Rose said quietly,"Captain-- I might be out of line, but we need to focus on real-life? Not the Oracle's game?"
Dokka cleared his throat. "Oh yeah!"
Obett asked, "Before we get back to real life-- HOW did you find out about the bomb?"
Dokka sighed,"It was shielded, right? Not scanable? We changed atmospheric pressure in the hold. Higher pressure caused gamma radiation. Only anti-matter might cause that."
Obett frowned,"The Erhlutians would never build a bomb that sloppy. I never thought to try THAT! Must have been a game thing."
Dokka shrugged. "Always ways around even insanely high technology. You have to be creative. Glaen wants YOU ignored. Azreal changed Snowflake's face to a normal humanoid's to 'SAVE HER' from YOU. Classic double-blind situation, with us in the middle."
Malbess muttered,"Bad enough in a game!Do NOT want to die in real life!"

Previosly on the Four Sisters:EARTH http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=2097709&user_id=161125&np&np Real world--Sometimes things mimic life and have to be included! The Oracle was an Altha-Krommium machine-life that could read the Probability Macroscope. He was around for Millions of years and made a name for himself on a Galactic level when he wrote Stellar Empires, a computer game that was totally immersive across many different platforms. The Erhlutians want him because he was built by their 'gods' the ALtha-Krommiums, not because he dissed them! XD

I like this! I've had conversations that had suddenly switched over to the favorite game of the hour.

Double blind: A testing procedure, designed to eliminate biased results, in which the identity of those receiving a test treatment is concealed from both administrators and subjects until after the study is completed. OK they are testing the crew.. but for what? Are they trying to see if Snowy will be saved by the crew? Or hide her death untill to late to see their reactions? If i was the Captian i'd study that game much deeper.

This is a very deep chapter. Did I miss something when I was reading the back stories; I don't remember anything about games. Another thing, why is Rose in full battle dress with her blaster pointed at Obett?? Is that her SOP?? Sorry if I am confused, I caught a hell of a head cold and my thinking is just not working. Excellent graphics, the detail is awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't remember how it happened, but I do remember that a few posts ago, one of the beings that Aldus encountered and it impacted our heroes, was the Oracle. This game seems to have been pretty good tactical training. Perhaps that was its purpose. I wonder if Aldus had anything to do with the creation of the game. Is Glaen really so biased that he would think other races would react the same way as the Erlutians? What is Azreal's motive in changing Snowy and is Kibo aware of it? How close is Azreal to his mother-in-law? I'm not surprized that Slicey was the one to figure the solution out. Very funny about them all playing the game. Why did Dokka mention Aldus the way he did in front of Obett? I'm sure Obett is soaking up everything he is hearing. Dokka being a bit of a dark horse himself, I'm wondering if he had an ulterior motive, though I have no idea what it would be. Great episode and image!
