Description

The tree and rocks are my second attempt at voxel sculpting with 3D-Coat. The rock materials are from Monsoon's Rock of Ages collection. The water needs improvement but I rarely postwork so it is what it is. The rest is Vue. Observations greatly appreciated!

The rock textures are awesome..what struck me about the water is that it would look really cool as lava.

It is impossible to model rocks in 3d Coat or similar program. They all end up looking like Cauliflower or something. Rocks shall be sharp and mean!

Realistic flowers! Water seldom follows a path so perfectly. Some splashes of water on the dry rock will help to increase the realism. And maybe add some leaves/debris floating on the water? My first impression was blue rock, not water.

That is a great attempt at the water. Keep it up. I like the way that it undulates up the side of the rock at the turn. It seems to need a less smooth texture and as someone said some foam. The rocks are as good as ever. Keep up the good work and experimenting. - Bob

Very cool structures and composition. But I think you need to work some more on the materials in this one. The trunk texture looks repeated, and the water lacks the feel of "water", looks frozen or something - oh, just re-read your own comment, well you agree I see :) Try boosting the highlight for the water, I often has it set to 800 pct. brightness and 80 or 90 pct. (or higher) shininess. Also check the transparency settings (how murky it is e.g.) and use "colour transmitted light" under the Effects tab.

Really pretty scene and great modeling. Great looking rock textures, and trees. I agree with bigbrader though. The water looks frozen or something. Overall, it's a really beautiful image!

Beautifully done! I also love the great tree with the fantastic root system. Did you model that as well? Excellent work.

Thanks! Yes, the tree was modeled with voxels in 3D-Coat. It feels almost like drawing compared to polygonal methods. Still learning...
