Description
Captured 7/31/10, at an American Civil War Reenactment held at the vast and beautiful El Dorado Park in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Don't bother zooming, it comes out the same size.
After a full body and equipment search and interrogation by the bodyguards in attendance, I was allowed to photograph President Lincoln, who seemed a bit reluctant at first. I believe it also helped when I mentioned I was a friend of and assistant to Matthew Brady.
-------------------
Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 - April 15, 1865) served as the 16th President of the United States from March 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. He successfully led his country through its greatest internal crisis, the American Civil War, preserving the Union and ending slavery. Before his election in 1860 as the first Republican president, Lincoln, reared in a family of modest means and mostly self-educated, had been a country lawyer, an Illinois state legislator, a member of the United States House of Representatives, and twice an unsuccessful candidate for election to the U.S. Senate. Abraham was a dedicated, though often necessarily absent, husband, and father of four children. As an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery in the United States, Lincoln won the Republican Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president later that year. His tenure in office was occupied primarily with the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Six days after the large-scale surrender of Confederate forces under General Robert E. Lee, Lincoln became the first American president to be assassinated.

Actually, the real Abraham Lincoln was about eight inches taller than this version, who otherwise offers a striking resemblance.

Cool collage Harry. Excelent series.

He does look much like photos of the real Abe; more than the one in "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure", who intones "Party on, dudes!!" with such zest... Excellent shots of this presidential impersonator!

He seems to be a little small in stature for Mr Lincoln... but a great collage of images depicting this hero nonetheless! Well done Harry!

This had to have been what President Lincoln would have looked like had he lived a few more years. Great character shots of the man behind the beard:)

Great images! I like the interaction in the 4Th one. Not sure if the Union soldier is talking about his beard, Lincoln's beard or just emphasizing a point very close to his face. Lincoln looks interested. The guy on the left...not so much. Excellent costumes and Lincoln lookalike.
