Volume I – Episode 23
Where: Melbourne, Australia
When: E-Day, 12:01 am
"So there I was, in the darkness," Kim continued. "I couldn't see anything. I couldn't hear anything. The club was completely silent. I had my hands over my face. I kept thinking any moment something was going to reach out of the darkness and drag me away. Either that or I would be trapped in the darkness forever, and would never be able to find my way out.
"But then the lights came back on. Just like that. And I was completely alone. Two minutes earlier there was like thirty or forty people in the club. Now it was just me.
"I got up and checked every corner of the club. There were glasses and phones scattered all over the floor, and even some of the other girls' clothes where they had been giving dances, but all of the people were gone.
"I couldn’t stop thinking of that stampeding sound – I still can't. I kept thinking it would come back…that the lights would suddenly go off again and this time I would disappear too. And how come everyone was gone but me? How come everyone is gone but us, Jess?"
"I don’t know, babe," Jessica said.
She had been wondering the exact same thing.
