Description
Driving the desert between Albuquerque and the AZ border is just as tedious as the previous miles since Texas. The traffic on I-40 is seriously dangerous at times with all the 18 wheelers that use it every day. It gets even worse after dark. The guys drive on to the NM and AZ border and pull off at a rest area on the Arizona side. There are some interesting formations there, but the Window Rock is north of here. They decide to go there the next day since it isn’t far away. They find a little motel with tee pees out front and rent a room for the night. The next morning, they drive up to the formation and look around awhile, studying the strange and almost mystical beauty created by Mother Nature.
A small park near the Navajo Nation Administration Center features this graceful redstone arch for which the Navajo Nation Capitol is named. The Navajo Nation headquarters and other government offices were built in close proximity to this mystical rock formation.
More recently, the Navajos have built a Veteran's Memorial at the base of Window Rock to honor the many Navajos who served in the U.S. military. Many Navajo soldiers are recognized in the annals of history for their role as Code Talkers, whereby they used the native language to create a code that was never broken by the enemy. Historians credit the Navajo Code Talkers for helping to win World War II.
The park has many symbolic structures: a circular path outlining the four cardinal directions, 16 angled steel pillars with the names of war veterans, and a healing sanctuary that is used for reflection and solitude that features a fountain made of sandstone.
After viewing these sites, they drop back down to I-40 where they find a place to buy some food and have a simple picnic lunch at the rest area. As they are eating, they visit with a few of the truck drivers that pull into the rest area as they haul their cargoes cross-country. At least some of them are friendly and make suggestions for the guys to seek out in their travels further west. They also give them warnings of possible dangers and smokey traps to avoid. The guys are very grateful for the tips and share their lunch with several of the truckers. Then, once again, they pack up their grub, fire up their engines and are back on the highway again.

I agree! Interesting story you tell us, and I can imagine your enjoyment doing this. Regarding your effort to present the story visually, you are also very successful. I suppose you combine post-processing of some photographs and 3d-objects creating package. Would you be so kind to tell us about the techniques employed? Anyway, your gallery is full of images with new visual approach. It is real refreshment!
