Description

Rose stopped inside the docking bay door. Zeelob walked in further with an incredulous look on his face. River King ran over to the old beat up looking ship like a child during the holiday season. He chortled and rand his hands over it. Obett said,"Go ahead! Let me have it. I'm ready for it!" He smirked and almost grinned. Zeelob exclaimed,"This isn't an ancient Altha-Krommium scout ship! THIS is a piece of JUNK!" Rose jerked a thumb at it and said, "King, of ALL people, NEVER fawned over ANY ship that I have ever seen. That means that there is something weird, outre, or peculiar from the normal in that old, worn looking hulk. Is it storing most of itself in hyperspace, somehow?" Obett laughed,"You are to methodical! Something like that! It's based off of a hypercube. It's dimensionally transcendental! It's eight times bigger on the inside than the outside. It looks only big enough for one seated pilot, sensors, and engines, BUT it's a lot larger than that! Several rooms, storage bays and fast engines. When I found it, I thought it was just a human built, run-down scout ship--UNTIL I GOT INSIDE! It's ALL Altha-Krommium inside!" King yelled over, having not heard a word,"It's bigger on the inside! Like one of those paper things that Jaeko was showing off the other day!" Rose rolled her eye and said,"Jaeko was showing off Origami for Toxic the other day and ALL the 'People of Talak' were captivated! They can destroy planets, but folded paper holds them MESMERIZED! At least they have their priorities in order." Rose smiled. Obett remarked,"Nice to see you CAN smile, Commander Cyclops!" She groaned and covered his face in irritation as Zeelob said,"Her name is Rose, not 'Cyclops', THAT is her species. The Cyclops do not use family names, much like we Friggians. Honor is a singular accomplishment, NOT a family endeavor!" Obett want over to the aft of the small ship to a door and said with flourish,"Welcome on board the 'Ragbag'! I have no illusions how long I might live if some found out this was made by the Altha-Krommiums!" The inside was soft and smooth. No seams, panels or edges. They went down a short hall that seemed longer than the ship and Obett opened a door to the sensor-bay. Zeelob exclaimed,"Dizzying! I expected to fall out!" Rose shook her head,"I suppose there are reasons for this, but it IS confusing. Let me get to scanning that battleship. I do wonder why it's taking SO long on approach?" She sat down in the control chair and got to scanning. Obett asked,"Can I get anything for any one? Some crackers or fruit juice?" Zeelob laughed,"We're here for scanning, not snacks, though I do thank you." King said,"REAL food, made by hand--YES. Otherwise machine food--NO." Rose laughed,"They're scanning all of us for anything anomalous. They seem to have have two medical artifacts and another that is hard to recognize. Some kind of duplication device. Pretty large thing. As big as the outside of this ship!" Obett gasped,"The DUPLICATOR? That's something that the Altha-Krommiums copied from the Great Enemy! It's something the Nephilum has thousands of to make more forces with! They can duplicate any known humanoid with it! They just need to scan the person, set up the elements in the right amount, and stick them into the other side and would pop a NEW version ready to be controlled by the maker!" Zeelob gasped,"No wonder the Great Enemy can threaten the known worlds! They have virtually unlimited manpower! How is this even possible?" Obett said,"It DOES have limitations! It does NOT copy HYPERFRAMES! Just regular beings, and only for limited time periods! Say about six months to a year? I don't know what limits them, though. Also it has to scan a new being in DEPTH for a day before it can copy them. Also--you cannot COPY A COPY! These last for a day or so at most!" Rose asked,"Do you think they might want to copy Snowflake?" He shrugged. --TO BE CONTINUED!--

I love ships that are bigger on the inside than out. I'd love to have a junk room like that with a secret entrance that only I could find. Though since soon most things in it would be lost beyond all hope of retrieval, judicious use of the trash would be better. Excellent narrative! The descriptions of King's reaction to the ship and the People of Talak's reaction to the origami, are very funny and drew a wonderful picture in my mind. I love that King was like a kid in a candy store. Very interesting about the duplicator. I wonder if those duplicated have consciousness of self and it any have ever rebelled from their makers. The copy of a copy only last for a day or so. How long does the original copy last? (If it survives whatever battle it was made for.) Does the duplicating have any bad effects on the original? Obett is proving very useful. Excellent image! I love the contrast and the lighting. Great composition of the bay and the characters, with the three talking and King totally absorbed in the ship.

How about a library instead of a junk room? That I'd go for in a minute, because I have too many books to be stored normally. The image and story were fabulous.
