Hi, I'm Marilyn.  I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile.  It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here.  I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends.  Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time.  Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!!  Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet.  You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long.  Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Beautiful! My cats would definitely be in it if that was here. ;o)

I love what you did with this! Really nice details. Yeah, I like the color too...so warm and inviting, even if it's catless. Oh well...can't win 'em all...and speaking of cats, I had a cat (named Dusty for her habit of sleeping in a dustpan) who loved little spaces (paper bags, shoe-boxes, hats) and this made me think of that little furball. She lived to be 23 years old too...pretty good for a purring love-glutton cat. This is a wonderful shot, and I love the way in which it triggered an almost-related memory. If she saw this hat, she'd manage to turn it over and curl up in it...even as an adult with a habit of severely deforming hats.

Hats off to you with this capture of the beautifully colored and textured headwear, photographed under ideal lighting conditions, M! Looks like a turtle on the front.

LOL! Very funny. Love the lighting, texture and detailing on this 'lid'. Even thought I know this isn't a sombero, it made me think about Richard Brautigan's 'Sombero Fall Out'. Great shot.

There was a sportscaster from the then local Hamilton, Ontario TV station (CHCH TV/11) named Dick Beddoes. He always wore a hat shaped not too unlike this one here. Though his wasn't straw of coarse and it was more like old brown leather. Every university in my part of the world listed the 'Beddoes' Hat' as the number one item to 'obtain' during each year's Frosh Scavenger Hunt. It's amazing the things that come to mind sometimes.

GREAT shot, beachzz! (Or, as this DUMB old man often jokes: Q: What is it when you see a 'hat' only? A: A TallPockets with the CRAP kicked outta' him). WINK.
