Description
This is the first image I've ever done in C4D...any comments or tips for improvements would be much appreciated.
The LP cover is from a digital photo (from a very wonderful group), the table and part of the lamp are from a tutorial but the rest is my own work.

nice work for a beginner, really ... its hard to give hints for improvement, you've made a difficult scene for the start :-) I would set the bumps a bit lower for the table, use a parquette-texture for the floor with a better tiling, add more reflection to the glas-plate and maybe a bit more highlight, same to the readingglas, give more transparency to the lamp, and, yes, the light must be improved, but its to difficult at this point to explain, you first should use some tutorials for lighting, but anyway a very good work :-)

This tutorial was my first as well. Your lamp came out way better then mine. I am still learning a lot about texturing and realism. Good to see that there are other beginners out there!

Thanks guys - I really appreciate your helpful comments. I've only got the SE version of C4D which was free with PC FORMAT magazine in the UK, but the team in our marketing dept. at work have the full package and are helping me out with some renders etc...I'm really getting into this! When I first saw 3D drawing apps I thought "So what? You spend ages drawing it and it's just a bunch of pixels..." but then I tried the free version of C4D mentioned above and I'm hooked. I guess that as long as you're having fun drawing things and are learning, it's cool. I'm certainly having fun looking at the wonderful renders by some of the people on this site!
