Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

Chip, your best neon abstract, so far, and maybe a new genre - fractal neon abstract. If I understand you correctly - quivering has been added. Great work Chip. Dana

Neon, florescant, no matter.... I like it whichever it is! Reminds me much of a friend who passed on back in '99. He loved doing things like this. He would delight in finding a nice neon sign, and set his camera for a long exposure, and wave it around in front of the lights. He could pretty much visiualize what the image would look like (back when film was still the prevalent photographic medium). Yes, John would have loved this image. Very cool work, my friend!

WOWSER DOWSER!! This is pretty freakin'cool. Kind of gave me not only a flashback to certian experiments of youth but even further back to childhood and the first time I ever looked into a kalidiscope( I know I just spelled that wrong but I'm in a hurry and can't get my spellcheck to work)and what a mind expanding feeling it was. Also reminds me of being on some kind of sci-fi ship near the warp core or some kind of flaked out Jefferies tubes. Or some kind if citadel. I love this. There's tremendous depth to this and it feels like you could fall into it and keep falling for a very long time. And the green is way too cool! I love this abstract Spin-Cycle phase you're going through. Keep it up. I'll never look at the Albank building the same way ever again. Wonderful stuff.

I really like this. Thought it was a fractal, at first, that is from a fractal program. I like it with the light on the dark. It is very vibrant! A bank, you say, and possibly the best use for it. Banks have a way of eating money through fees, and such. Perhaps the green glow is the digestion of people's money. ;o)

cool work

Well done, nearly kaleidoscopic!

What with green color? I have 'green phases' myself on and off even so my fav color is blue. Strange or sometimes just wish to be other then blue. Also am I in the ever returning sci-fi phase too? Recently I see so many out of this earth themes and pictures like yours. My mind tuned to it. This work transforms me into a simply story...Strucked by a hoovering sight laying on the dirthroad looking at the approaching UFO craft and I am just spellbound with the colors and the pulsing vibration what coming from the craft. I want to get up and run away but the hunger to know how my story ends keeps me still and I am ready for what ever comes. Excelent work!

Plaid. The inner ring is plaid! You've given me what I THINK is a great idea. LOL! That's totally cool. Nice!!

I think I fell into a kaleidescope!!!

A neat creation! Maybe there was something in that Dr. Pepper, ha ha! It made me think of a kaleidescope too - what fun they were...

It makes me think about a HUGE HALL with light in the ceiling. It looks very beautiful. Its like the ceiling is a Huge guardian watching over us. SO beautiful.

This one puts me in mind of an elaborate open air concert, viewed from above, by Visitors perhaps: "No one would have believed, in the first decades of the twenty-first century that human affairs were being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's." Your work on these becomes more and more intricate and surprising, and maybe it's your new techniques that are making the difference. I must admit to being hugely amused at the thought of you quivering outside a bank! This is moody, and intense and very effective!

Neon floral, I love it! This is becoming a most attractive habit to view from here, don't get knocked down whilst indulging, though!

I was mesmerised by this Chip and just kept looking at it, and yes I zoomed, but always try to if I can, it adds to the pleasure of it all. I was fascinated by your intro and how you perceived the final result, that in itself mesmerised me too. I love this, it is really amazing!!! hugs Jane xx

Wow! Wow. I say it again, "wow". Very alienish and the color is amazing~ like the glow sticks you see at an amusement park and other venues, but better! Fantastic work Chip. I'd really like to see your process :)

Fabulous! It sort of reminds me of the wormhole entrance in DS9 - only much posher and more beautiful! I too thought it a fractal! ^=^

I'm sure that Nina would find much to love in this yellow-green (532 nm or there abouts) splendor. And indeed, she would zoom in for more detail and take the time (maybe as much as four or five tera-cycles) to appreciate the subtle variations in every last pixel, looking for those perfectly tuned ones. Though all such greens attract her attention and favour. She still has no definitive answer for why this green is more important to her than any other wavelength of light. Others like her have no answer to that question either. But she is learning that it may not matter why. For myself, this also brings to mind Kubrick's mind blowing stargate sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Dare I say it, 'Awesome!'
