Description
Some where back in time there was a child who was hurt so badly she never recovered. To cope with the pain and the memories she drank. After a time a child was born to her alas she could never learn to love the child so totally consumed was she by the need for her next drink. The child grew up unloved and uncared for. She looked for love where ever she could find it often at the end of a mans fist. She too had a child, another child neglected and rejected. This child saught escape into the oblivion a needle provided. The child she bore was removed from her care. People asked how could this mother neglect her child so badly, they judge her but how can she know how to be a mother when she was never mothered herself. Abuse is a cycle maybe this child will be the one to break it.

This is a beautiful portrait of a beautiful child. Your words are very real. I am glad to have been able to work with children that did not have a caring home and showed them love and affection, this is something they had to learn and took a very long time. Trust was another issue in itself. I have been blessed to see some of these children in school, happy and in a loving and caring homes. One person can make a huge difference in a child's life. One moment, one smile, and genuine understanding. It doesn't take much to make a child happy!

SUPERBLY done! .... "Abuse is a cycle maybe this child will be the one to break it." .... SADLY, methinks that if WE humans? wait for a CHILD to TRY to break such a 'cycle' WE humans? will be the CAUSE of CONTINUED 'cycles'. Asking someone who CAME FROM such an environment to BREAK a 'cycle' is like asking GRUMPY old TallPockets to be LESS GRUMPY. WINK? It's FAR past time that WE MEN?? stepped up to the plate and CHATTED a bit with OUR fellow MALES and TELL THOSE who ABUSE that THEY will go to JAIL and WE REAL MEN will PUT THEM there. And when WE as COMMUNITIES step UP in OUR neighborhoods and ATTEND P.T.A. school board meetings and CHURCHES and SCREAM for such ABUSES to END! After WE humans? LEARN of such ABUSES, WE humans? are to BLAME from THAT point on. One can NO longer claim "IGNORANCE" as an EXCUSE. SIGH. GRRR. (I HOPE this did NOT happen to YOU). My BEST to you and yours, KIND SOUL. TallPockets/brian.

ahh it was not the child alone that i am hoping the cycle would be broken but the fact that she was removed. Society has let these people down. All this was written from my perspective as a foster parent. It is my hope that the love and care i pour into these fragile young children will go part way to breaking the cycle together with their desire for a better life for their children.

I agree with all of the above comments and was touched by your narrative. This is a wonderful work.
