Description

Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever, Steven Donaldson 1978 "Ur-lord, WARE!" came the shout from Bannor before Covenant went down. Covenant was on his knees, his right arm hung useless and numb at his side from the blow. Bannor, his companion since coming to The Land was behind him. He turned in time to hear the neck of one of his antagonists snap from Bannor's kick. "Urviles" he thought as he looked at three of the ebony demondim lying around him. Bannor, his Bloodguard defender was moving in an unimaginable dance of speed and skill as the evil creations of Lord Foul tried to swarm over him. Covenant knew they had come for his Ring, white gold from his world, but they had to get past Bannor, one of the 500 Bloodguard sworn to protect the Lords.

A nice interpretation of an excellent, though disturbing, story. I've read all six.

There are four more, The Final Chronicles of Thomas Covenant that have come out in the last few years, two are already in print and the third is coming.
