Description

This will be the last set of pictures for a while as I'm working on a couple of weddings this weekend So the car passed with flying colours and to celebrate the fine day I took a drive around the coast and stopped as some of the sites The stone ring fort is from the 9th 10th century and many can be seen around here I ran out of space on my card at the beach bar so I headed down to take in the sun!

Ring forts! These buildings would have been strong holds for wealthy land owners Two stone walls made from large stone would have been laid and filled with smaller stones. The outer wall had steps to veiw the landscape and here the sheep and cattle would be kept. two or three smaller houses made of wood would then be constructed inside. often with drainage and a underground tunnel to hide or escape! They are normally on hill tops and have steep sloops they could also be used as signal towers in case of invasion! A string of fires on the hill top would warn the neighbors of trouble and where it is coming from!
