Description

When I first arrived at Lake Minnewanka, I found a very nervous Mountain Goat, that appeared to be guarding the lake. That is Mount Costigan 9,777 feet (2,980 meters) high - to the left - I think). The goat followed me left and right as I took all my shots. I thought that s/he was begging but it moved away when I put my hand out. When I was finished, I sat to check out the vastness of the area. The goat took this position and shared an apple and carrot sticks. Would not try any trail mix. So I got up to leave and the goat stayed still on that spot. Took this shot and started to walk away. The goat jumped up and lowered its horns. Check my next post in the ANIMAL genre to see why. At that point I just backed away in a new direction. Scanned from a photo taken (August 1988). Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana PS: it turns out that this is a Bighorn Sheep.

Super shot of the goat guarding its lovely milieu, Dana! I sure wouldn't want to butt heads with that critter. I believe that along with photo equipment and snacks on these ventures, a stun gun and/or pepper spray would be appropriate.
