Description
Il Macaone (Papilio machaon LINNAEUS, 1758) è una farfalla della famiglia delle Papilionidae, famiglia prevalentemente tropicale, di cui solo 9 specie presenti in Italia.
The swallowtail (Papilio Machaon Linnaeus, 1758) is a butterfly of the family Papilionidae, mostly tropical family, of which only nine species in Italy.
Adult
With nearly 8 inches of wingspan rule, it is not difficult to meet and notice it especially in the countryside or in the hills early spring (the period when pupae flicker), until late autumn.
Caterpillar
The caterpillars are green with yellow rings dotted with blacks.
Biology
The caterpillars feed on Apiaceae, such as fennel and carrots.
If disturbed, evaginate from behind the head a couple of horn-shaped glands (osmeterium), emitting an odor repellent that keeps predators.
Stylish and agile in flight, the male is also a defender of its territory, if you happen to see two circling neighboring daring stunts, probably one is trying to oust the other.
Even the swallowtail butterfly has the typical behavior hilltopping, or try to fly above the highest point of land is located in (domain).
Distribution
It riviene meadows and marshes of Europe, temperate Asia and Japan, and is also found in arctic or subarctic regions of Canada and the United States

I hope the spider is gone. How beautiful!! The light glistening on the spider's web and the butterfly daintily touching down so as not to disturb Mr Spider if he's home. Gorgeous lighting and the red in the leaves adds the final crowning touch to this beautiful shot. I love it!!! Spero che il ragno sia andato. Quanto bello!!
