To wblack: my public response was posted with today's upload, then after 10 hours or so, I realized you probably would not see that; being it is in a different genre...Here's what I said: Hmmm,...[This] Yesterday's upload produced some interesting comments. I especially enjoyed the blow-by-blow long critique by someone who sees himself in a different role here on R'osity than most of us do...Most of us (old timer's anyway) are here because we feel comfortable sharing where our INDIVIDUAL ARTISTIC VISION took us recently. By that I mean, (to me) R'osity is an Art Site, to an extent, it's a social networking site of sorts as well. What R'osity is not, is an Art Gallery like the Museum of Modern Art in NYC; or an Institution of Higher Learning. As for my Perceptual Senses; I'm ok with them; I must be doing something right. I have been organizing my gallery on www.redbubble.com, where the designs in 'Featured' are just that, designs featured by various groups, and was surprised to find the total number featured so far, is way North of 35, with my only being a 1/3 of the way through my 964 uploads & counting there. I guess if there's any Lessons Learned in this, it'd be: "Be true to your individual artistic vision. Don't sweat on account of self appointed 'critics.'" Most of whom seem to be lonely souls crying for attention, IMHO. Thanks for looking. Semper Feradis SAZ

I would suggest that it is not your perception or your individuality that is in question. Unless you think creating art with flawed visual perspective defines who you are … I would suggest that it does not. Your individuality does not rest on whether or not you learn correct perspective. You will still be who you are whether you learn or not. Individuality does not rest on what you know, but on what you do, and more to the point, why you chose to do those particular things. It appears that your ego stands in the way of permitting yourself to accept criticism, and that is also a matter of your individuality. If that is the case perhaps you need to re-think checking that "allow comments" box. The key is in understanding that you will still be an individual even if you accept kindly offered advice. The question you need ask yourself is are you happy with this particular image, and if that answer is "yes" then so be it. Original text of comment posted on Sep 7, 2010 2:09:00 pm: If I might offer a constructive criticism. Notice the two War Trucks: you have produced the visual perspective correctly, the more distant vehicle is of suitable scale in relation the vehicle following -- you have executed the visual perspective in an accurate manner. However the tree on the ridge appears out of proportion relative to both of the War Trucks. This same element fails completely in your foreground and as a result the perspective in the entire image falls apart. Objects closer to the viewer appear larger than objects further away -- in this way visual scale is communicated to the viewers eye. Position of one object in relation to another is another key to setting up a proper perspective -- you need to keep correct visual scale along with correct object relationship to pull this off. There is extreme visual distortion in your image, the scale of the Ambulance in relation to placement of the Road Warrior car is visually confusing. In placement the Ambulance should be further away and thus smaller, it appears to be parallel with the Road Warrior car, but paradoxically is larger -- this error sets up the visual confusion. This creates the illusion that the Road Warrior car is so small that it could fit on a stretcher inside the Ambulance. Both vehicles are wildly distorted in scale relative to the War Trucks and the tree which distorts the scale map of the entire image. I think if you worked on your sense of proportion and scale you will produce better more dramatic and effective work.
