Description
Jagdpanzer IV/70(V)
The Jagdpanzer IV was developed on the chassis of the Pzkw Mk IV Ausf. H, based on the success of the Sturmgeschutz III in the tank destroyer role. Due to the larger gun, the chassis was made a bit longer than the standard Pzkw Mk IV tank chassis. The first were delivered in August 1944. Some 930 vehicles were produced before the end of WWII.
Due to the weight of added frontal armour and the long barrel overhang, the two front road wheels were steel rimmed instead of rubber rimmed.
Weight: 25.8 tons
Armament: 75 mm. L/70 KwK 42 gun (PAK 42)..
Ammunition storage: 60 rounds
One 7.92 mm. machine gun for anti-aircraft use.
Engine: Maybach HL 120 TRM, 300 generating horse power
Speed: 35 km./hour on road, 18 km./hour cross country
Range: 210 km. on road, 130 km. cross country
Crew: driver, loader, gunner, commander.
I’ve included a top rear photo of the vehicle to show the layout and paint work.
1:72 scale model by Hasegawa. Assembly and painting by me.
Enjoy!

Nice job. I've seen the one this model is copied from (Ordinance Museum, Aberdeen, Maryland) and it is indeed "low profile". Some late production vehicles had the first four bogeys metal tired (the metal tire was rubber isolated inside the wheel). It's very front heavy, however; if the brakes were applied abruptly the barrel could be damaged - literally - lol.

Oops, reminds me that I have a couple of photos to get to you. Looks like the Jagdpanzer here is a 38(t) with a 75mm gun with a shorter barrel. The road wheels are completely different...larger and all rubber tired. Great job on your model. Painting looks great!

Good detail for 1/72nd! I thought it to be 1/48th, or so.
