Description

My entry for the "Beach & Seaside" contest at C3D, won 2nd prize. Vue 8.4 render, levels/colour correction, framing & signature with Photoshop. Palmtrees with Onyxtree. Over at C3D several have asked me about the "from-dry-to-wet" sand material. Well, it's just 3 mixed materials made altitude sensitive to achieve the falloff effect towards the water. No breaking waves? Nope, the water is too shallow in this laguna, they are further out. Thanks for viewing, comments etc. always welcome and appreciated. Have a nice day - Lars

Wow, hard to believe you got 2nd! Really fantastic, I consider shoreline scenes to be the most difficult and you've obviously mastered it. Beautiful!

congratulations! the sand materials are impressive. the clouds are great. i think the light is a little less natural and photo-realistic than you usually have in your forest scenes, and her footsteps are too straight and regular in depth and shape to be natural. the water is great, the landscape composition is excellent, and the trees are very realistic. i can definitely see why it was so highly regarded. excellent work!

I'm not much for the tropics, preferring the arctic climes to the warmer latitudes. This scene, however, might turn my mind! Wonderful scene made all the more impressive with the footprints leading the eye to the subject. Nicely done!!

I have never seen a close-up of Vue's sea shoreline look this good! :O And the wet sand is utterly fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only thing that bothers me on this image (besides being loads better than I can produce), is the straightness of the see weed at the high tide as well as the in a row foot prints (although walking in a straight line is understandable, the fact that the washed up seaweed is also in a straight line draws more attention to it).
