Description
If one is very quiet and very observant, one can see wondrous things in the deep woods at our Beloved Three Dog Hollow (yes, that's the proper name for the Hollow). One can walk along the edge of the deep woods where the leafy canopy is not so dense, and soak in the magic of the sunbeams finding their way to light up little bits of woods, here and there.
It's especially beautiful in the evening hours when the sun is low in the sky and gives everything a golden glow, when it's still quite bright out in the open fields, but the woods are beginning to turn dark.
Stand still and watch the little dust motes and floating bits of pollen dance the in sun's rays, listen to the Robin's evening song and breeze rustling the leaves, breathe in the fragrance of the woods. If one is very lucky, the wee folk lift the veil from one's eyes ... and see, really see! Astoundingly, many of those tiny sunny spots reveal themselves to be places the wee folks have turned their lanterns on to brighten the way.
We can't say where to look, we were made to swear an oath by the wee folk that live in and about our Beloved Hollow. Everyone, of course, knows the consequence of breaking such an oath. Oh, I'm sorry, you didn't know? The very next time you see a donkey somewhere, braying at you pathetically, look deep into it's eyes and you'll know.
Everything here is taken from my own photos, except that one litte red lantern hanging from the edge of the roof of the little porch; that comes from psptubedepot.com, and the artist is jjacks. I've tried my hand at painting a little bit, mostly to add shadows and light.
I looked forward to reading all your comments when we got back from the Hollow, and each one is treasured. Thank you so much for the faves as well.
The seven days at the Hollow were beautiful, all sunshine and warm, but the mosquitos were frantic for blood, and we were the main course, LOL!
I'll be trying to catch up again, so please be patient, I'll get there eventually!
Seems I caught a bug when we got home, so I haven't been feeling too terrific. Thankfully these things pass and live can continue as normal, grins.

Oath-breakers are not treated very nicely at all. the ones turned into donkeys are the lucky ones.... Excellent image, Rita!

What a great story about the Hollow. I must admit that I was drawn into its depths and the Hollow opened up before me as the majestic place that it is.The story about the wee folk, or the Gentry, as my friend from Scotland calls them, is quite compelling. I am reminded of a treatise written in Scotland during the 17th century called." The Secret Commonwealth" by Reverend Kirk. In that book, the dire penalties for betraying the Gentry were listed, and none were pleasant. Super fine work Rita with an extraordinary tale to accompany it. Excellent!!!!!

An absolutely beautiful image, Rita, and a wonderful tale to go with it! Yes, we must respect those of the Realm when we are granted access to their wonderous secrets, and that you, so much, for sharing this wonderous vision with us all.

I love it! The mosquitos could spoil it for me, I get more sensitive to bites as my skin ages!

What magic in these words, and behind that image. I will come to believe that you get called a fairy Melusine, or you are a descendant of the "Lady of the Lake" ... and you crossed lands and seas to live where you are now. Thank you for all your warm comments and your imagination that reaches as many mine! Again thank you for all Rita!

I love this image, I can just imagine the wee folk, going about their business, doffing their hats to each other. Glad you had a great time, shame about the bug though, get better soooooon. xxxx

Gosh Rita you have a wonderful magical place at the Hollow. I can just see the little folk having a chat to you as you pass. You caught superb rays in this capture too. You will have to ask the fairies to get rid of the mozzies for you. Thank goodness there aren't too many donkeys near here. A super imaginative image and I do hope that bug leaves you alone soon. Take care.
