Description

This started as a test of whther I could get a replicated surface over to Daz Studio to render with the new Reality plugin. DS doesn't do any form of replication/instancing, so it all had to be converted to real geometry and it didn't handle it well! But while I was trying, I was also rendering this in Carrara in the background and was really impressed with the textures on the Kentrosaurus (from Daz in the Predator and Prey set) - so here it is! Just the dino, a terrain with one blade of grass replicated 20,000 times over it and the "Light" preset from Carrara CloudDomes (also available at Daz). Realistic Sky and single "Sun" light, rendered with skylighting. Thanks for looking - have a great day! Phil

"Something out there I don't want to run into - I don't relish having those two horns in my belly! Hurts my intestines!" - T.Rex. This is really good, except the iterative grass. Change the grass a bit, and this could be a photo! Keep up the good work! :)

sky and rhino looks great, the grass needs a little more work maybe a little more thin and better textures.....

Pretty cool render ... I don't know what the dino eats ... hope it's grass though. Well done.

Great render! An intersting experiment, I dont know much about Reality but I know the KerkyThea render engine supports instancing, perhaps Lux render does too? You could export the hill as obj then assemple the components in Lux, Kerkythea or Indigo. I do not understand the advantage of putting DS into the workflow. A dedicated render engine should be able to handle the instancing itself without the need to get too polygon heavy.
