UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

What a miserable old winger! The Roman sculptors pulled no punches! I just wish they drilled the eyes more often.
prutzworks
cool shot, and yes the pupils........
Rainastorm
With that look, yeah he'd fit in lol

Quite life like. The artist did a great work to carve the expression and you did an excelent job to give it back to us. Like to tone too so suitable.

That's such a wonderful sculpture ... I can almost feel the texture of his skin, the muscle tone, yet it's marble. Excellent capture in museum lighting. Well done!

Great piece and shot!!!

I immediately thought Roman. Well captured - the light enhances the facial features. Clive

Your entry in Rob's 'Grumpy Git' gallerie ? Faces from the past, these ancient busts always seem to be trying to speak, though I've never understood the blank soulless eyes.
tennesseecowgirl
LOL great shot Bill... did you smile back at him.
drace68
Great capture. Will he ever learn that looking grumpy begets grumpiness in others?
Blush
Great capture But he looks kinda grumpy LOL Hugs Susan

I think he's just had a bad day, his horse came last in the big race, his car broke down in the rain and when he got home his wife had run away with the postman, but worst of all the postman brought her back!!!!!!!!!

That, and maybe a couple tribal tatoos..... Well, maybe not.... Great shot of this statue! Looks like it might be Julius Ceaser - just when he meets Brutus & company in the hallway.... Excellent, Bill!

Sterling clarity and lighting effects in this portrait, Bill. Put some more hair on this dude plus pupils in the eyes and you'd have an exact replica of me.

The contours on his face just speak volumes, must have been a hard life... great pity that his nose got a bit of a hiding - unless he is sporting the flue ? anyone would feel miserable as well, BB
npauling
He looks a bit grumpy, but then who wouldn't be if they have lived so long and all their friends are dead. A great capture of this interesting face.

awesome shot!! This is probably Seneca. Some people here complain about the empty eyes, but in ancient Rome and Greece, all statues were colored with bright colors. In some of them it's still possible to see the actual colors in some hidden parts like the hair or clothes. It's time that made them "white" and so we discovered them. This "marble white" quality became the epytome of Classic art during Neo-Classicism at the end of 18th century. Classical ancient statues MUST be marble white so some during the 19th century some curators of the British Museum erased the colors from the statues (also from the Partenon Marbles) with mechanical tools!!!!

absolutely beautiful!
