Description

Taoism (or Daoism) refers to a variety of related philosophical and religious traditions that have influenced Eastern Asia for more than two millennia, and have had a notable influence on the western world particularly since the 19th century. Roughly, the term(s) translate as “path” or “way” (of life). I have long been a fan of Eastern art forms because they have depicted fractal structures long before the concept of fractals ever arose. To my mind, this means there is something archetypal about fractals (which will come as no surprise to my friends at Renderosity). The title of this piece is intended to be a double entendre since it depicts both an actual pathway as well as structures ironically depicting Taoist practice. I will leave it up to the viewer to decide which (or both) meanings apply. The image is a melding of both flame and classical fractals and both Apophysis and Ultra Fractal are used.
