Description
Darkfall could feel the shift in the winds. He knew his Elf-friend, Blackrose, could too. There was an ancient magic stirring in the woods. Something that had lain dormant for ages beyond even the Elders count. Something was coming that would change the lives of those who lived in the Briar forever.
It was old majik...ancient majik and it had waited several scores of lifetimes to reawaken. Granting a gift on the one soul that it's power called out to. Blackrose.
A kind of outcast even among her own people. She was misty eyed, dreamy and lost in old tales of ageless romance, magic and the Songs of the Wildwood called to her in voices others turned a deaf ear to. She could pick the nuances of a howl of the wolves - those meant for MoonSong that only the wolves were told to be attuned to.
She bonded to Darkfall, an outcast from his pack, an ebony shadow that lurked at the periphery of the hunting lands and the borders that dared not be crossed. One look in those glowing amber eyes and one could tell he walked that place of shadows where only the spirits dwelt.
It was this mystic connection that bound the beast and the elf together. And it was a bond stronger than even the ties of family, tribe, friends, or pack.
On this one night, when the Summer moon reached her zenith and bathed the wood in that otherworldly glow of ethereal blue-white. Away from the tribe. Away from the pack. Away from all prying eyes that might condemn them. Darkfall and Blackrose sat amid Summer's dry grasses and prickly thorn bushes unscathed by the flora around them. No thorn grazed fair skin and no painful burrs caught between toe-pads.
In the distance the tribe sang, told stories and feasted on the red buck they had brought down earlier then retired to the dark of then dens and caves for the evening. The night breeze only disturbed by the low trilling calls of nightbirds and their mates.
It was then, though a blade slim sliver in silver touched clouds that moonlight and ancient majik melded. Glittering stars drifted down a beam of pure, pale moonlight and touched the hand it had sought so long after. Infusing the Elvin maiden and her ebon companion with gifts of woven dreams, visions and tales even the Elders could scarce recall.
On that night, Blackrose garnered a new name from the spirits beyond. She was now the Dreamwalker and she would now lead her tribe to a new hope, a new promise, a new life.

great dedi to Rita... I'm looking at the title, we are wolf-kin... and then I started thinking of werewolfs and thought they like to eat little girls in green bathing suits - lol..., looked at the picture and noticed the shadow on and by the tree... read your book - lol... and when I went back up to your picture it was then I noticed your wolf in the picture - cool... but also not = lol, because I just saw a picture that was dark and wonder if my wife messed with the brightness on my screen - lol cool picture, so is that wolf a leg man or breast? LOL... damn, I'm hungry now - lol

We've just gotten home from the Hollow, and of course the pc got turned on right away. I unpacked, but still need to take my shower (bird baths at the Hollow just don't do it, grins) but I wanted to check in at Rendo first. And so I checked my site mail .. and followed the link, and Oh My God! this is simply mind boggling! It is breathtaking beauty, and Darkfall .. even though he's a "he", and a wolf, and shadow-black, is to me, Gracie Anne .. and the story is (for me anyway) a hope that she will come to me again, that there is some magic like there is for Darkfall and Blackrose, that will bring us together again some day. Darkrose's story gives her power to lead her people on to better things, but all I ask is that Gracie Anne I will not be apart forever. This is the most beautiful thing I've seen and read in a while .. and touches my heart deeply. Hugs, To You, Stacey, and a huge thank for all the sweet things you said. And all the sweet things I say to and about Princes Puppy-Star Pyrate Pooch are from my heart. But she already knows that.
