Description

Vollucella pellucens is a hover-fly. It occurs in much of Europe, and across Asia to Japan. In French: Volucelle transparente, ou Volulcelle. The female enters the underground paper nests of the common wasps and lays her eggs. Despite the conspicuous nature of the intruder, the hosts do not appear to register her presence as she makes her way into the otherwise well-guarded nest entrance. Picture captured last week-end on the aster flowers in our garden ; Many thanks for the identification to Jean-Luc Renneson (Marbehan), Scientific collaborator to Royal Institut of Natural Sciences of Belgium(Natural History museum) IRSNB and Agronomic Faculty of Sciences to Gembloux. Thank you very much for your comments on my previous upload: thumb_2108050.jpg "rural loneliness"

On a l'impression de voir le nectar dans la fleur et je pense que c'est ça aussi:) C'est assez spéciale ..le fond a deux teintes bien distinctes. Superbe présentation Michel!
