Description

Been trying to use a background picture. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, and when the do it's out of focus and or grainy. Could anyone give me a clue on how to use a picture for a background? I would appreciate it. Thanks for looking and all your comments.

Before I forget, I used an image from my APO files, in case that makes a difference.

Oh this seems to be a moving creature and is very "bloody". I've been told you can do it with layering in PI but sorry it is beyond me. I can do it in FE though because it is done for you..

Hey Stick, don't be so hard on yourself, I like it. I have sent a separate message regarding your question, which I hope helps.

Tried using the BG image option too, something about how it scales the BG image doesn't seem right or I just haven't hit on the right size BG to use, something, also dynamic Fog doesn't function well with BG images it seems. Peace

Great work, Stick. Fractal almost look like clay. I'm not back permanently yet, only for a short while so far. But things seem a bit better... i hope to find a home, and be back on Renderosity for real.. before christmas.. if all goes well. Time will show. Tips on background images... you need Photoshop or Paintshop Pro.. or another image processing software. On this image you posted here. I would either sharpen the background image layer , or i would blur the fractal layer. Or at least use the blur effect on the final image. Then they will look to be in the same picture. I mostly blur sharp edges on all the PSD layers in my work in photoshop. You can use any software that has the Blur effect. I hope your son got back from the war, alive and in 1 piece. Best wishes to you and the family.

The thumb jumped out at me. The full sized image is even better. Jenny's right. FE has the ability to use background images, though I find it a little limiting because the size you can use is restricted. Most good image editors have ability to layer images...except for IrfanView. I'm sure there are some good Open Source editors on Source Forge. That's always my preferred option. However, this image is wonderful. The blur is definitely working in your favour!.

I really like the blurred background in this image. it gives the feeling of motion. Excellent render!

I am guessing here, but I think it may be that in this case the fractal object is tiny and the background pic is huge. You may have to equalize the scales. I like this a lot. The flaking texture is super :)

I agree the photo needs to be re-sized, but I have not seen any option to change focus. excellent work

Try using a background image as background only... do not blend. I think that will work. That is how I got the background image in your Maximum Security Prison post. Good luck and let me know.
