Description

It's been nearly a year since Tara and I took that memorable trip to Chicago. Who knew it would turn into the Ninja event of the photography world??? It IS pretty hard to ignore a crowd of camera toting people taking shots of the same things from so many different angles. This is just one of the 100's of fotos I took on that trip; I'll be posting them into the next millennium, I'm sure!! Which reminds me, I have fotos of that park as well!! lol

Fire escapes and shadows! So hard to resist. This is excellent. Beautiful framing by the tree, light, and all those lovely lines!

Great stuff! I remember this place (and have a shot of it in my gallery) ... that's where we ran into the guy with the little dog. I think that dog was blurry, btw ... I got NO good shots of it. :P

Love how the branches get in the way, looks like the one who took the photo didn't want to be seen :) lol it's just a thought I had looking at the image :) Amazing capture! Congrats

We never had anything like this growing up in the land of one-story buildings in Southern California...the first time I saw fire escapes was in love with them. They still attract me for some odd reason. Love these old black steel ones, they have so much character!

We just don't seem to have them over here. I would love to walk up and down them! It would be heaps more exciting than being inside. Can people use them anytime, or is it strictly for fires only?

You'd best be in good condition to use this fire escape here. Nice shot. Aloha

It IS impossible to resist a good fire escape and shadow shot! This is such a cool shot and I keep looking around parts of Chicago, expecting to see the photo ninjas hovering around and snapping away. What I really like about this is how it brings that time 1 year ago back so firmly! That and this is a great photo too...I love that balcony...um...I mean fire escape! Well...they're smoker's balconies now, only you're not supposed to say that! Ah...urban life...ain't it grand? This is a great shot. Oh, and walking DOWN one of those fire escapes is fun, especially when you get to the bit on the counter-weighted gimbal-thingie...your weight takes you down to street level as your walking surface goes from horizontal to diagonal. It's a trippy, smooth feeling!
