Description
Have you ever just started playing with an image, and found that, somehow, that image begins to take on a life of its own, and leads you in the direction it wants to go? And to your surprise, it ends up being something completely different from what you expected?
That's pretty much what happened here. I was doing some experimenting with pgmeri01's excellent "The Streets" freebies - for another project, actually. One thing just led to another, and this is what I finally ended up with; an image exploring the cold, lonely emptiness of what must be a horrid way to make a living..
I actually had to render this in two versions and composite it together in Photoshop. The buildings are actually intended to be put together in a straight line, I think, and not placed at right angles, as the windows nearest the corners are blocked out. But for the price of this excellent series, it's worth the effort, and really easily fixed. The background photo is a night time photo of Kansas City's Plaza area I took a few years ago.
The girl is basically just V4 with Lully's Josephine morphs; another excellent freebie. Her hair is Aditi Hair - not sure where it came from. If you know, let me know so I can give proper credit. I used Bagginsbill's hose shader for her hose, and added the lace hose tops in Photoshop. The lighting is a combination of lights included with the Streets props, with additional lights by me. I used the ambient shaders in the material room for the windows, and changed the color of the walls to a brick red, and sandstone for the trim and sidewalk.
I was stunned this morning when I checked my e-mail. For the second time since joining Rendo, I made the Art Charts! WOO-HOO! My post "More Crappy Art" came in at 34 out of 51, and is my most popular image to date! So a BIG THANK YOU to all of you for this honor! And I'd be remiss if I didn't thank apple waaz 'er face for the inspiration to create that image. Guess I'd better get busy and create some more crap! LOL!
Hope everyone has a great week, and as always, thank you so much for all your views, comments, faves and support!

A very unlikely inspiration, Rod and congratulations for making it in the art chart, yay! You're well deserving, my friend and just so happy to see you there. There are also days that when I work on something, I let it take its own course. It works better that way! Great work on this!

Like this Rod! ...particularly with the KC lights in the background. Not being "checked out" in Poser, your words give me a feel for all you do in the creative department to produce a render. Just shared your final paragraph with tk and we're applauding you loudly. If you put your head out a west window maybe you'll be able to hear us;-)

See Rod, we TOLD you that was some good crap!! Congratulations!! And now we have even more crappy work from you! You did good with bending the buildings, I think and blending in the city lights...looks like its a quiet corner of town though...she may be better off moving to where there is more traffic, LOL. Thanks for more good crap!

WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!! What IS this CRAP?!!! You made the CHARTS?!! Well, CRAAAAAAAP!!! Now I will DEFINITELY have to delete my gallery and leave crappy comments on everyone else's work! CRAP, CRAP, CRAP!!! Now, before someone reads this and thinks I'm serious let me say: CONGRATS Rod!!!! As to the above crap (LOL), nice job Rod. Sounds like you put WAY to much work into this one to qualify as crap though. Excellent night lighting buddy.
boobunny
That is the only way I seem to produce a image. If I have an idea and try to hard it never works. I have to let it flow on its on. So I know what you mean. Fantastic scene and lighting and grats on the charts!
Rainastorm
Oh Rod this is such an awesome scene!! Well done!!
Raddar
ROFL "More crappy art" hit the big time huh? Thats deserves a fan-freaking-tastic!!!! As for this one, I really like the dark moody / gritty feel to it, you captured the big city night life feel.

If a 3-D piece I'm doing doesn't take on a life of its own, it tends to not have a life! LOL! I always start with one thing, which suggests another, which suggests something else. (Of course none of this has happened for a really long time!) :P This turned out great!
bazza
Lovely work on this Rod.. congrats on making the charts with your more crap image.. This looks great does look like a miserable way to earn a crust.. They often turn out better when they take on a life of their own!!
brewgirlca
I love the variety of lighting that you have brought to play in this work. The reflections of the streetlightin on the windshield are especially well done but one cannot ignore the variety of window lighting either. Congrats on getting onto the charts last week.
Seaview123
Soooo.... does this mean that people seem to like your 'crap'? I'd say so! Congratz, and good job showing up that hater.
