Description

I made Pinhole Cameras with my students last week and this week we used them. In all my long years of photography this is something I have always known how to do but never done. Simple and effective, we used photo paper as the negative and they got to experience the magic smell of developer and fix and to work in subdued, red light. For a generation who have cameras in their phones it was an exercise in patience. This is one of my demonstration images, scanned and inverted in Photoshop. You can see evidence of double exposure in the eye sockets as I hadn't noticed that my 'shutter' had fallen off the front of my camera! We shall be doing more later this week and they've been asking me about building a larger one. Perhaps we'll build one that takes roll film next?

Very cool. I never did any pinholes. But my older brother did when I was a kid. Remember he set it up in our dark garage over night pointed at his dirt bike. Came out cool. I wish I could take your class man. Bet it would be a blast!
