Description

...this would be an impossible shot. It is a photo manipulation:) First, you'd have to go back to some time between June 6, 1944 and May 8, 1945. Second, you'd have to be wing walking. Third, you'd have to be prepared to parachute to safety. What is this? A German Junkers Ju 52 transport that I photographed sitting quietly on the airport at the Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio in June 2009 and a P-51B Mustang that I photographed at Arlington, Washington 13 months later. To add a bit of realism I added motion blur to the two props on the Ju 52 and lens flares to the wings of the P-51. Amazing what can be done with two unusable pictures when you combine them and add a wee bit of imagination:) Bill:) "Blue Bottles" thumb_2108946.jpg

Stellar lighting effects in this excellent bit of manipulation/postwork, Bill! It appears that the Mustang is strafing the airfield. Incidentally, the Junkers Ju 52 was prominently featured in the cool movie, Where Eagles Dare, starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood.

Info for Harry: Sorry, you can't see the Bf 109 flying off the right wing of the Ju 52...that's what my P-51 pilot is firing at;-)

This would be a great new way to make vacation travel less of a chore.......being randomly strafed in between the peanuts and the movie!

Cool work Bill, not a view you'd want from any part of the Ju52, of the 3 requirements....parachuting to safety seems the best option about now.
