Description
Have spent the last few weeks exploring Reality 1.0 and Lux Render. I love the fact that it is an unbiased renderer, but the time it takes to render is somewhat laborious. This took 43 hours to render and is half the size of my normal output. Size rendered 1272 x 1798 - 2128s/px.
I love the shaders but its hard to tell what you might get until late in the render. The preview function is a good guide, but we need something more substantial - a larger size preview perhaps? Would be good to be able to do spot renders, but I guess it wouldn't be accurate as it needs to calculate the whole scene.
Spent quite some time in Poser's cloth room (Sshodan's Robes), but since I work primarily in DAZ Studio, there was a lot of going back and forth between applications. I hear that OptiTex are releasing Dynamic Clothing for Mac - so fingers crossed it will be sometime soon.
Products used: (DAZ) V4 with custom morph, (Blackhearted) GND4, (Red House Studios) Celebrations for Baroque Grandeur, (Arrin) Angelina High Heels, (Corvas) SimpleDetails V4LITE, (Sshodan) Robes for V4, (Valea) Misty Veil Hair.

Very beautiful! I love the pov! I agree with everything you said about Reality/Lux...my views exactly. I hadn't heard about dynamic cloth for Mac....that would be awesome! Thanks for sharing your process and your lovely image!!

43 hours to render!?! WOW The longest I ever waited was 14 Hours then I gave up & shut down! But your picture here is very nice Super point of view :) Great lighting! Very nice looks like it was worth the wait :)

Wow - beautiful scene. Gorgeous pov and outfit. Love that floor. That's an amazing amount of time to render a pic. Bravo to you for your patience. Way cool scene.

Thanks for comments. The great thing about Reality/LUX Render is that you can continue to work in DAZ Studio (or other applications) while it renders. I'm usually working on other stuff while its rendering. When I rneder in DAZ, it usually hogs the CPU to the point where I cannot work on other stuff.

What a splendid perspective, very realistic and elegant render, congratulations!

Great POV and movement

Beautiful! Excellent lighting and I love the movement in that dress. The more I hear about the render times in Reality, the more I think I can live without it, lol.

Truely lovely work. Amazing flow on the dress. Lovely reflection work that combines with the flow to create a truely outstanding composition.

This is jaw-dropping beautiful and realistic. The girl, her pose, ~that dress~, the point of view and the lighting/textures are ~awesome~ The best I have seen so far, both on composition and lighting! You have given me a goal..

i cant say enough what others have said above..but this is truly a spectacular masterpiece...really well done ...the time to do it...well thats another matter but good things come to those who wait...which this picture shows.!!!!

Thank you again for your comments, always appreciated :) The thing about Lux is that it never stops rendering. I have left this to render further to see how the quality improves (for future reference). Its now at 58 hours at 2753s/px. The grain certainly becomes finer. I heard that it took 24 hours just to render one frame in Avatar - I'm sure they would have had faster computers and immense render farms to speed up the process, but its the same process.

Absolutely stunning!

Wonderful!

what's really remarkable about this piece is the cloth. you did a beautiful job with that simulation. the hair, scene, and dress shading is very good, but the skin has that yellow bloom and blow-out i'm beginning to associate with Luxrender images. very beautiful, but no more so than your other DS images.
Shimuzu
@ kobaltkween - Thanks! Yes, I agree there is that blow out on her skin (left shoulder), this can be corrected in LuxRender quite easily by adjusting the exposure settings (there are many controls that do this). What is great is that the information is there, so can be burnt back in. I chose not to over compensate because a real camera would do the same thing (unfortunately) - and sunlight is that powerful that it does the same thing - that's why we squint at times. I did enjoy playing around with the robe - and also wind force - which is something new I found in Poser. Worth checking if you haven't already (only if it interests you!).

Worth the wait, this is STUNNING

I gave you a five. You took the time to do this right.

This is great. I have the plug in as well, but I'm not patient enough to let it render. But this picture encourages me to try to use it. At least I can come back and stop a render! Excellent image.
ChevyV8S10
Absolutely fantastic work all around, especially on the clothing details (off the shoulder, movement.) 5+
TruForm
Whoa!!!!
ColonelKernel
Excellent job! Still, there's something around her face that gives it away as a render. It may be her eyes or the hair, I can't say for sure.
