Description

Wherever hope dies, fear flourishes,   and so doing hampers the spirit. Wherever hope lives, fear can not thrive, One is never completely wrecked. Wherever hope flourishes, fear dies out,   leaving us the better equipped, the happier   and the stronger to deal with what we must. Fear depends upon thoughts to feed it; cut these off. For want of dark thoughts your fears will starve and die. You can and you will make good in life! You can and you will win through! Spartacus ... an historical archetype of winning through against adversity beyond all reasonable hope; even if only for a brief, shining time.
I offered these words here a few months back accompanying a portrait of Spartacus. I recalled them with deep emotion after reading news this weekend regarding the actor who inspired me to set out on developing the Spartacus series. It was announced yesterday that the actor Andy Whitfield who portrays Spartacus in the current film series will no longer be able to continue the role. Whitfield has been stricken with non-Hodgkin lymphoma since early this year. After initial treatments his body responded well and Andy was able to resume work on the second season of the series. Sadly, the lymphoma has sustained and now requires aggresive treatment. Whitfield gave a statement yesterday: "It's with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as Spartacus and all the wonderful people involved. It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey. Thank you sincerely for the support so far." It is support which will certainly continue and deepen. Andy Whitfield has given us a performance which has already touched the lives of millions of viewers. His Spartacus inspires a quality of hope which incinerates darkness and illuminates a path to a brighter future. What we can give back through this time is a fierce belief that this same spirit will lead Andy and his family through this dark night and into a future of abundant health and happiness. May it be so. With warmest regards to each of you, Terry

Some how they will get through...they just need to believe. My best goes out to them in this difficult time...I hope they have friends/family they can rely on. I know from personal experience it will be the great asset to his well being.

He seems to be in very good spirits and his outlook is fantastic. Although he and his loved ones are facing a very trying time, I feel as though he and they will pull through even stronger! Because of his words, I think its possible that before he could experience this "extraordinary journey" he needed to play the role of Spartacus in order to know those words and then live by them. He may not have been prepared otherwise! Beautiful image and dedication! ;D Until...

Wonderful image Terry, I just repeat Rose's words: "Some how they will get through...they just need to believe. My best goes out to them in this difficult time...I hope they have friends/family they can rely on. I know from personal experience it will be the great asset to his well being!" This is my opinion too bro, have a great new week, ute

Anyone can live with adversity for what is adversity but hard times. But to live without hope, well, that can kill you. As long as the spirit is strong you cannot be defeated, no matter the outcome. My best to Mr. Whitfield for a full recovery.
