Description
Melbourne Aquarium. These beautiful creatures are great to touch. They feel just like a big greasy block of rubber!
Rays are solitary creatures and are no-aggressive to humans. As unfortunate as Steve Irwin's death was, stingrays only discharge their tail barb if they 'absolutely' believe their life is in danger. Why? Because they know that they only get 1 barb per year. That animal is then left extremely vulnerable until another barb finally arrives the following year!

A very interesting piece of information--I never knew that. I've seen these in the water and they remind me of angels. One time I was in a boat in Mexico, and one leaped out of the water--the wing span must have been 10 or 12 feet across--it was awesome!!
